Cashflow 202 -
Teaching more sophisticated investment

A few months ago, our little Cashflow circle bought Cashflow 202 after each one donated a few bucks. Cashflow 202 is the more advanced, upgraded version of Cashflow 101. Cashflow 202 uses the board of 101 but introduces other sets of playing cards, but you still use the money and playing pieces from the first game.

Cashflow 202 is more advanced - more advanced stock trading: call- and put options, and short trading; more advanced property investment: 1031 exchanges, mudslides onto property, government expropriation of land; and business like multi-level marketing.

I enjoy 202 more than I did 101. Now you can go broke with stocks (it is not a given that you'll make money on stocks even if you bought it very low - remember the $1 stock deal in 101). You can also have damage to your properties like mudslides or you can lose your property to government. Doodads are also more true to life and hurt you more - you can buy a luxury SUV even if you are a janitor and then you are your financial sewerage.

The game now allows you to declare bankruptcy, which is fairly painless, but you cannot borrow from the bank in the future (for investment, but you must still borrow for doodads).

As the most knowledgeable person on stocks in our circle, I had to explain several times what the difference between call- and put options are and why they are actually less risky than shorting stock.

Cashflow 202 is definitely a step up from 101, but if you want to get more familiar with the jargon of stock investing, this game will give you the basics. If you already own 101, I would recommend you get 202, even if only for the fact that you can now go broke on stocks.
