The purpose of a business coach, and the process of coaching, is to develop a venture to a more sophisticated business model - and indeed, to be in aid of personal development. Human resources is also key, bringing with it good relationships intrinsically to the business and extrinsically.

Such skills would include achieving appropriate efficiency within the business or organisation.

Implementing a system of coaching is an almost certain and proven way of obtaining and maintaining positive attitudes and behaviour within businesses. This can reduce absenteeism, improve leadership skills and result in employee accountability measures. It also encourages more effective team work, involving goal-setting and using positive communication to perform strategic planning.

Using a coach can take various forms. This can include one-on-one sessions with employees, providing personalised feedback and more specific ideas on how to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace. Group coaching can also occur with a business coach, sometimes implementing large-scale organisational work. Many modern practices implement the practice of 360 degree consulting, before they agree to provide specific coaching from a business- or life coach. This allows for employees to use their own life experiences and professional expertise to create better participation within their specific area of work - overall allowing a business to run more efficiently, and allowing employees to communicate on a personal level with superiors.

When a firm is seen to be performing specifically badly, whether it be down to poor products, poor advertising and marketing, or simply a recession - a coach who is a professionally accredited coach is often called in to motivate the work force to get the business back on track. Healthier businesses still recognise the importance of coaching in business, suggesting the overall desire and necessity from and for a failing business is great. These coaches can specialise in many areas, including corporate coaching, leadership coaching and executive coaching.
