Once I had asked a girl, do you dream of me, in reference to this song by Michael W. Smith. Unfortunately the answer was not the one I wanted - actually I did not get an answer. When pressed for it, I got the reply that she did not understand my question. She went on to tell me about the wonderful weekend she had meeting her boyfriend's parents for the first time. Ouch - how is that for subtle?

Generally I try to stay away from the lyrical subject of 'love', 'dreams' and 'destiny.' This song has just such a strong pull that I could not resist. This song speaks to the inner part of me - that part that does not like to admit it, but knows it is desperately needs the approval of a loved one. That part that is uncertain in a world where everyone must be certain of who he or she is and where he or she is going. And is that smile the start of a laugh? Are you sharing my laughter or laughing at me?

'Wings of hope take flight.' In the end that is all we can say regarding the emotions of others - we hope. And to the women - do you not want a man to admit that he has some insecurity as well? A man that is strong enough to admit that he is not perfect?
