Review: How To Get Rich -
|
|||
The book is divided into six parts that range from advice on business and careers to a look inside the Apprentice. Within each of these parts, there are short chapters with each chapter devoted to a specific point that Mr. Trump wants to make.
I like Mr. Trump's style with the short chapters of business wisdom and his uncompromising approach to business. He also does not hesitate to say something the way it is, for instance the fact that sometimes it is necessary to yell at people or remind them who he is and that he might actually know what he is talking about.
A point made early in the book is that you find a lot of books written by millionaires and not a lot by billionaires. As such it has more value to those aspiring to be fabulously rich rather than just next-door-neighbourly rich.
Throughout the book you will find valuable pieces of advice. Advice like: Don't equivocate (being deliberately confusing or vague - like politicians); bullshit will only get you so far; invest simply; and start to visualize positively. At times it may seem like common sense, but if it were that common, why aren't all of us billionaires?
Of all the skills and mentality Donald Trump mentions, I was quite pleased to find that he would say playing golf is also a recommended pastime. Especially since I am already an avid golfer and enjoy it as often as I can.
Overall, I enjoyed How to Get Rich immensely. Despite the fact that is a bit over the top and trumpety at times, it contains a lot of business chutzpah, Trump style.
