Larry was adopted as a boy, and did not learn his mother's true identity until he was nearly 50. With a difficult start in life, the odds of him succeeding were fairly unfavourable. It has emerged since that he was a clever young man, but lacked the attention span required to make a commitment to work.
He went to the University of Illnois, but left before his second year came to an end due to the death of the mother who has adopted him. After things had settled, he attended the University of Chicago for a term and for the first time, encountered the subject that he would ultimately make a fortune out of: computer design.
Married four times to date, Ellison began his career working for Ampex Corporation during the 1970s. He went on to found Oracle in 1977 - a key stage in the Larry Ellison biography.

Ellison donated $151,092,103 in one year to charitable causes. Although this only accounts for about 1% of his overall wealth - it is still worthy of recognition.
Now over 60, Larry is still going strong in terms of the services offered by his business and their tight vice-like grip over the world of software design.
