The $40 Challenge - Money Making Idea:
The Water Game

(For background on this money making idea challenge, please visit: The $40 Challenge)

The Idea

Take a nice big jar, build a little platform inside and fill the jar with water. People then drop coins and try to get it to land on the platform to win some money.

Poster: Stielle
Initial time: 2-4 hours construction. 2-3 hours vendoring to shops.
Initial cost: About $10.
Results:
Income: Initially, $15 in 3 days from 3 games.
Costs: 10% revenue share with shops.
Modifications:
Change payoff from game to entry into a draw with a much bigger prize, and expand to 8 stores.

Further results:
Income: $9/day per store
Costs: 10% revenue share. $50 prize money.

Total amount made: $252
Residual potential: With a little effort every week (about 3 hours - moving things around, prize draws, etc.), $80/week.

This was the thread starter's first answer to the challenge and shows great creativity and novelty. It took some time and effort initially to get this of the ground, but after that it became semi-passive - he/she didn't have to be around to have it earn money. A very good illustration of the Rich Dad mindset. I'm not sure how long this went on beyond the first 2 weeks, but it was a good response to the $40 challenge and a good money making idea.
