With Northern Star, Melanie C (formerly of the Spice Girls) surprised me as I'm not one who expects much from former boy band/girl band
members who pursue a solo career. It is a song from her first solo album also entitled Northern Star and is her own song (unlike many other
bands who have great songs but which is just remakes of older classics).
This song speaks to me in the way you idealize that special someone - a partner or a parent or a lover - as the guiding light for your
life. And as consistent as the northern star is to guide lost seamen, so too will this special person in your life guide you. Along with
this guidance, we get the encouragement to 'live you life without regret', 'dont succumb to their lies and goodbyes' and when you're lost
'reach out for me'. A beautiful song sang with a strong voice by Melanie C, makes this a treasured inspirational song.
