Tyra Banks Biography
From Model to Talk Show host

The Tyra Banks biography started when she was born in Inglewood, California, to a family of high achievers. Her mother, Carolyn, was a fashion manager whilst her father was a photographer for NASA.

Banks graduated in 1991 from Immaculate Heart High School in Los Angeles, and was headed for Universities like UCLA for television producing, From here, it would be that the Tyra Banks biography would not only see her appear on the television screens, but on the front of magazines and in numerous music videos.

She has been a prominent media figure for over 16 years, as she is a television personality, an actress, and a singer. The former entrepreneur and model made her first commercial breakthroughs when she began appearing on television back in the 1990s.

Tyra Banks was the first African-American woman to appear on covers for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and GQ - and she received the VH1 award for Supermodel of the Year. In the same year, she also became the first African-American chosen to appear on the cover of the Victoria's Secret catalog.

Her career in music videos was comparably good, and equally terrific. Banks appeared in music videos of Michael Jackson's 'Black or White', and George Michael's 'Too Funky'. Her brief dabble with singing, began in 2004 and ended somewhat soon - when her first recorded single 'Shake Ya Body' turned out to be a failure after it had been released as a single. Banks' music career was supposedly over before she could release her first album 'T.Y.R.A'.

On this glitch in the Tyra Banks story, she said: "I can't believe I wasted six years of doing something that I didn't finish...I was almost able to release my album T.Y.R.A., but since my music career hit rock bottom, I quit."

This pessimistic nature stopped her from releasing any dedicated albums of her own (though that's understandable considering her success in televised areas) - but later released a single with NBA played Kobe Bryant, called 'K.O.B.E'. Banks also has a single on the Disney movie 'Life Size'.

Her professional modeling appearances, in Paris, Milan, London, New York and Tokyo, seem almost obsolete compared to her success today. The Tyra Banks biography saw her create and host the much-loved series 'America's Next Top Model', which to date has run 169 episodes through 14 seasons over the past seven years.

Banks' flair for catching the consumer's eye is also apparent in her close links to Walmart, the high-powered supermarket chain that sells America's Next Top Model clothing and accessories, based on the television show.

With viewers of season finales reaching over six million at a time, Tyra Banks biography is proof of the realization that the market was certainly there for the taking - with the strong USP automatically suggesting high sales and high demand. Not to mention, endorsement from one of the largest supermarket chains in the world, that helped an enormous drive in advertising.

The Tyra Banks biography is certainly a varied one, and it demonstrates a woman who was not afraid to experiment by embarking into different markets.
